About
LYK is an international collective of seven artists working across sound, moving image, computation, performance and physical space. We come from Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and North Macedonia, and we began working together through academic projects. Our work starts from one question: how do technology and tradition change the way we perceive, remember and inhabit a place? The medium changes with each project. The question stays.
What we investigate
Perception, memory, territory, culture, the body and collective experience. We translate things that are hard to see, like a landscape’s sound, an archive’s silence or the history of a building, into experiences you can walk through and hear.
What we make
We work in three modes that feed each other. The loop is make, research, share, then make again.
Art: installations, performances, audiovisual and interactive works, exhibitions and festival projects.
Lab: prototypes, research, technical experiments and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Sessions: internal skill-sharing, workshops, talks and, in time, public courses.
How we work
The collective shares an identity, a network and its opportunities, and each project is built by a different combination of members. Everyone is paid fairly for commissioned work, and part of every budget goes to shared equipment. The working language is Spanish.
