Manos de Tierra
about the project
Mariel Tania Terán Mita. Electroacoustic piece for Andean flutes, symphonic instruments and field recordings. Premiered by musicians of the Brooklyn Orchestra at Fotografiska, New York, for Mata Festival. Year to confirm. A piece that builds an Andean landscape you can walk through. Field recordings of Bolivian landscapes meet improvisations on Andean wind instruments, symphonic strings and electric guitar, transformed and layered into a stereo track that carries the live performance. At the premiere, performers moved among the audience, so listeners stood inside the composed landscape. It starts from the relationship between people and nature and reimagines Andean musical traditions in an immersive format. Media: Mata Festival audio
