Modus Anima

about the project

Speculative historiography built from real archives. Through the voice of a fictional heiress, the installation follows the Hagenbeck family, known for the exotic animal trade before they moved into film, who brought the first non-native species to the Buenos Aires Zoo. Her great-grandfather's tension with Eduardo L. Holmberg frames a reflection on the weapon and the camera as two ways of capturing. Footage from the Museo del Cine and the Archivo General de la Nación plays on CRT monitors.

Sebastián Guzmán Becerra. Audiovisual installation with digitized films. CRT and LED televisions, DVD players. 2025. Selected for the 112th National Salon of Visual Arts, Palais de Glace.
