Viento y Luna
about the project
Mariel Tania Terán Mita. Wind instruments, electric guitar, voice, percussion and stereo fixed support. 2023. Premiered with the Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN) at the Bolivian Pavilion, Venice Biennale 2024. A dialogue between wind and moon, written as a landscape. Mariel drew the score by hand over the spectrogram of the electronic part, so performers read the fixed sound as terrain: what is written above it plays louder and what is below plays softer. Each instrument has a role. The voice is a fragile moon, the percussion is grass and scrub in the wind, the sikus whisper, the moseños are the old grumbling wind, the ocarinas are birds, and the electric guitar is the glints of the city.
